Flaw. "I sweep a lot under the rug to ensure Mir Oenya's reputation remains intact.”
Clues
  • Targets Dragons & Magic Users. The diplomat was an elven spellcaster. A dragonborn cleric went missing a few days ago. Was assumed traveling until now.
  • Telepathy & Screech. Staff in adjacent rooms heard Elvish incantations in their minds, followed by a screech.
  • Burrowing Creature. Claw marks and signs of rapid digging.
  • Shielded Mind. Failed attempts to magically track the creature, realizing it is protected against detection.

Sudden News. A guard rushes in to inform the characters that there has just been an attack at Port Hadim Aquafarm.

Site Two: Port Hadim Aquafarm

Read Aloud. Raised walkways stand empty. A shaken guard, nursing a wound, sits nearby, recounting what happened.
A “sea beast” attacked the fishmonger and wounded a guard. The victims can give clear descriptions and show where the creature came from, pointing to an underwater passage.   Clues
  • Targets. The fishmonger is a druid who talks to the sea animals.
  • Blood Frenzy. The creature became frenzied when it tasted blood, attacking much harder.
  • Bite & Metal Teeth. The wound resembles a metal bear trap.
  • Aquatic Adaptation. It came from the water and had fins.

Underground Tunnels

Water-filled tunnels require swimming through narrow passages, with strong currents slowing movement. Characters must succeed on a DC 10 Athletics check to swim at normal speed; failure reduces speed to half. Breath must be held (1 + CON mod minutes), and if a creature is struck while holding its breath, it must succeed on a DC 10 CON saving throw or lose its held breath. Visibility is limited to 5 feet without a light source.   The aquatic Dranglin attacks in round two of travel.

Ishkul Cache

The water tunnel opens into the cache, its narrow passage finally widening into the chamber. The tunnel’s exit is a small pool near the eastern wall, where signs of the Dranglin's escape are visible. Characters entering this way must climb out of the water, one at a time, entering into a hostile space. A Graeul was awakened and is stuck, unable to escape like the Dranglin. See Rewards.
Read Aloud. The air here is thick with acrid vapor. Vats of green liquid bubble, their fumes rising and pooling near the ceiling. A jagged, yawning hole dominates the center of the room, its depths disappearing into impenetrable darkness. Broken machinery of long-forgotten experiments line the walls.
Combat. 1x Graeul and any surviving Dranglin. If both variant Dranglin are already dead consider adding 1x normal Dranglin.   Vapor Emission. Every other round, poison sprays upward. DC 14 CON save or be poisoned until the end of the next turn.   Pit Hazard. The central hole poses a significant danger. Any creature that falls in faces a fall far underground. Emphasize the peril, and consider allowing characters to utilize the pit.

Dranglin

Read Aloud. A hulking creature with rough, stony scales and coarse fur lurks, its pitch-black eyes devoid of emotion. Spikes line its back and its jaw bristles with metal teeth.
Engineered predators designed to hunt dragons and magic users. They communicate telepathically and enjoy hunting. Around draconic beings, they are reckless.

Graeul

Read Aloud. Pale grey skin clings tightly to a wiry frame, with elongated limbs ending in sharp claws. The thing’s unhinged jaw opens unnaturally wide, revealing two rows of jagged fangs. Its ashen body moves with predatory grace, a twisted shade of whatever it once was.
Once human, the Graeul are twisted amalgamations of man and beast. Built for endurance over brute strength.   The Graeul uses its speed and agility to harass, striking from the shadows and retreating when necessary. The Graeul's focus is on tormenting its prey, targeting the weakest or isolated.
