RKA: Player Guide

The Red Keep Adventure is an RPG designed for 5th edition Dungeons & Dragons. This module uses the Player's Handbook and Dromaria: The Covenant.   The campaign is set in the southern Tritos Dominion during a pivotal time in history. Characters will begin their journey as a new king ascends the throne, while the people celebrate the Festival of the Crown. As you enter Shelter Lake, you find a town caught between tradition and change, unaware of the dangers ahead.

Character Creation

  •
  • Starting Gold & Equipment. Use the normal starting equipment provided by your class and background.
  •
  • Character Backstory. Your character is starting in the southern Tritos Dominion, specifically around Shelter Lake, during the Festival of the Crown. Further details on character creation in Dromaria can be found in Chapter Six: Player Resources.

The Adventure

This adventure focuses on strategic decision-making, survival, and navigating the political tensions of the region. You will encounter dangerous situations where quick thinking and smart alliances are key to survival. Carefully consider your actions and how you interact with both allies and enemies.   Expect a mix of combat, exploration, and roleplaying. The adventure is designed to be deadly, with tough encounters that will test your ability to manage resources and make critical decisions under pressure. While it is meant for heroic characters, all playstyles are welcome.   By default, milestone leveling is used, with characters advancing at specific points in the story. However, the GM may choose to track experience points instead.

The Region

Southern Tritos Dominion. The southern region of the Tritos Dominion is primarily rural, with small towns and villages that rely on farming, fishing, and trade. Though typically removed from the major political shifts in the capital, the region still feels the effects of King Ender Ramus's recent ascension. Local leaders work to maintain stability as the new king establishes his rule after a long period of uncertainty regarding the succession.   Shelter Lake. A quiet, scenic town, Shelter Lake is home to farmers, fishers, and lumber workers. The town is preparing for the Festival of the Crown, a historic celebration marking the crowning of King Ender Ramus. Red and blue banners decorate the streets, and the townsfolk are eager to enjoy this rare event, which has not taken place for over 400 years.

Recent History

The Red Keep Adventure takes place in the aftermath of several significant events that have shaped the region.   The Demon War
(6,664 - 6,667 DA)
A global conflict sparked by the demonic entity Lucca Krazier devastated the Tritos Dominion’s government. Though the war ended nearly a decade ago, its scars linger.   Political Upheaval
(6,064 DA - 5 UE)
King Caraconne Tritos's death and Frijring and Serawa's secession from the Dominion have left the region unstable. The new king, Ender Ramus, faces growing concerns as his actions stir unease.   The Witch Wars
(6,072 DA - 1 UE)
The brutal conflict between powerful witches terrorized the local city of Lolien and other parts of the region. The threat is gone, but malevolent fey and cursed objects still plague travelers.   Disappearance of the Moon
(1 UE - Current)
The moon Ankyaro vanished during a celestial event, and though it remains in orbit, it is invisible. This phenomenon has dramatically increased the dangers of the night.

New Dromarians

Dromaria is a high-fantasy world built, where magic and dragons shape the lives of its people.   The Covenant
The Covenant is the foundation agreement between mortals and dragons, maintaining balance in the world. It defines the culture, politics, and power dynamics across Dromaria.   Magic & Technology
Spell use is a way of life, but its use comes with rules and consequences. Some areas lean on ancient magic, while others use mechanical devices and inventions. The Tritos Dominion relies more on technology and historically distrusts powerful magic.   Gemstone Calendar
The calendar changed as of five years ago. Dromaria now operates on the Gemstone Calendar, where the year is divided into ten months, each named after a gemstone.   Languages
Dromarians speak many languages, but "Common" is the most widely understood. Due to the large role dragons play, Draconic is familiar to studied individuals.   Religion & Rebirth
People follow a variety of religion, typically linked to the world's first settlers, the Ancestors. These faiths shape regional belief structures and politics. In the cycle of life and death, reincarnation is considered fact.
