The Firepit
On the western side of Shelter Lake lies a swathe of land charred and desecrated by a red dragon attack centuries ago. Beneath the scarred area is an underground vein of natural gas causing it to continuously burn. Soon after the attack the townsfolk built several layers of protective stones around the inferno to contain its relentless flames and safeguard against any errant victims.
Knowledge of the landmark has been kept within the museum at the local Temple of the Hammer, but is not needed among the folk that live in town. The long storied history of Scaborous the Pure is told often and is unlikely to soon be forgotten.
