Dinner With a King

Adventure Briefing

The goblins of Crammin celebrate a monthly feast with a grand banquet, bringing in boars from the Abadaya Badlands as the main course.   Gon Thuk is a wereboar and King among the wild boars. Gon has taken offense to the hunting and used a magic item, the Totem of the Boar King, to enrage his herd (see reference page).   The characters are hired to find out what is going on and return with enough boars to feed the Court of King Trashpile. Success means a formal banquet. Failure means fleeing.   To the Players. In a sudden, violent burst, all the boars for this month’s feast turned on their captors and attacked. The goblins have cornered the beasts inside a building and need help killing.

Warlord Glop. C/N Female, Goblin Leader
The true ruler of Crammin. Glop continues the long-standing tradition of maintaining the illusion of King Trashpile. Furious at the ruined feast, Glop wants answers. She suspects foul play.   Quest. Investigate the rage and secure 2x Herds for the feast. The boars came from the King’s knights at their Croft.

The Realm of Gon Thuk, King of the Boars

Gon roams the badlands as a large gray boar. He turns into his tiefling form to communicate verbally. The boars listen to him.   Wild Boars. Giant Boars weigh up to 1,000 lbs and boars up to 300 lbs. Bringing the feast back alive is typically easier.
Encounter. Encounters in the wild contain at least 1x Herd, consisting of 1x Giant Boar and 4x Boar. Each herd has 1d4 boars under the effects of Primal Rage to eliminate first.   Herding. Animal Handling and communicating with animals move the herd. Boars that get out of line increase difficulty.
Gon Thuk. C/G, Male, Tiefling Wereboar King A gray-skinned tiefling wereboar, Gon Thuk rules with brutal honor. He will challenge any who wish to take the badland boars to a 1v1 duel for the right. Refusing him outright will turn him and his herd hostile. He has 1x Herd with him. Killing too many boars draws Gon Thuk if he is not found first.
Encounter. Gon Thuk (wereboar) fights fairly, expecting the same in return. He carries the Totem of the Boar King and a +1 Maul. Increase the wereboar’s to hit and damage by +1.

Gon Thuk, King of the Boars

Chaotic Good, Male, Tiefling Wereboar   Gon’s tiefling curse took over when he was about to marry, seemingly triggered by the stress of the event. He fled out of shame, not understanding his love’s true feelings. In his desperation, Gon joined a guild of thieves.   Living with new companions, Gon realized a life of crime was not for him. When Gon tried to leave, his boss attacked, inflicting him with a second curse – lycanthropy.   Once again Gon ran, this time to the far south and the distant Abadaya Badlands. In the years since his arrival, Gon has become more boar than man, sometimes forgetting he can transform at all. The local boars view him as their lord and king.   Roleplaying Gon Thuk Personality Trait. “I will never take more than I deserve.”

Warlord Glop

Chaotic Neutral, Female, Goblin Leader   Warlord Glop is the reigning Hand and “secret” King Trashpile. Glop is a handsome goblin, and arguably the strongest warrior in town. While not feared by the residents, her short fuse has lead to many keeping a wide berth. As current Hand, Glop is considered a gracious ruler. She loathes the Copperbottoms, a gang who are currently taking up within the city and is actively working to uproot them.   Roleplaying Warlord Glop
Personality Trait. “I want to be remembered for my kindness, not my patience.”

King Trashpile

???, Goblin King   Gram Teeth was a goblin warlord who rose to power in the mid-5,900s, during a period of instability and conflict in the Abadaya Badlands. He quickly gained control of the region by leading an army of goblins. Under his reign, he established rule through fear and violence. He proclaimed himself King Trashpile and began the construction of the city of Crammin to house his army.   The Court of King Trashpile was famous among the people of Crammin due to its throne, which was comprised of all sorts of odds and ends from the King's conquests. The court became so overwhelmed with loot, that the figure of the King could no longer be seen within and he soon died. The King’s Hand, Warlord Klanger, enjoyed being in charge so much that he kept up the charade as if Trashpile still lived. Klanger assumed control of the city and secretly declared himself King Trashpile. He continued to govern Crammin using fear and violence just as his predecessor did. Over time, Klanger's rule became lax and some semblance of peace settled.   It is unknown how long Klanger maintained the ruse or when either he or the first king actually died. Upon discovery of his death, a new goblin became King Trashpile, maintaining the illusion, a tradition that is still carried on to this day. Legend has it that if you are brought before Trashpile's throne on a warm day, you can still smell the first King.   The current King Trashpile is known as Warlord Glop.

GM Advice

Crammin treats most things like a sitcom. Everything will be back to the status quo when it is all over. Embrace the silly.   The vibe of this adventure is World of Warcraft zones such as Westfall and the Barrens, with a mix of goblin fun.   King Trashpile is a time-honored tradition, similar to that of Santa Claus. Goblins choose to believe because it makes their lives a little bit better. A large Trashpile is a happy King.   Gon Thuk could just as easily be an ally as an adversary. He has had unfortunate circumstances and didn’t have the skills to deal with them. If considered as an option, Gon and his herd may even consider helping bring back different animals for the feast.
