Chapter I

Prologue.

A squad of men walk up to an old abandoned ruin deep in the deserts of Bartazer in the distant a dust storm could be seen building on the horizon, all heavily armoured with a few tanks as support. As a man from the front of the group spoke.

“We should head back now,” Brigga urged as the sun dipped below the mountain line around the group of about two hundred men. “These barbarians are dead.”

“Do these corpses frighten you so much?” Alan Wolfrick asked with a smirk across his face.

Brigga did not rise to the bait. He was a veteran of twenty years and over three hundred battles and didn’t take any shit from this kid despite what his last name was. “Dead is dead,” he said. “We found the rebel base, just as the commander told us.”

“Are they all dead though, could be some that are still alive.” Alan asked. “I mean surely Codsworth will ask us.” Alan smirk returned to his face as he continued. “Of course, you’re free to leave if that’s what you want, I won’t stop you. Although you’ll be declared an undesirable and be killed on sight.”

Brigga gritted his teeth before heading deeper into the rebel base, not wanting to displease the colonel. Especially not this Colonel.

Alan Wolfrick was the younger son of a powerful family which made weapons for the entire imperial army. He was a young man aged twenty-eight, with piercing blue eyes, short dark brown hair and slender as a blade. He had been part of the imperial army for seven years now and nobody could say that he had bought his rank, unlike many of his contemporises who had. Despite this Brigga had doubts as after only seven years in the imperial army, being given a command was odd to say the least as it had taken him ten years before the top brass had thrown him so much as a bone.

Alan turns on the light on his gun in order to better look around the damaged base quickly thanking the gods that they had managed to get the high command to bomb the hell out of it before coming up. A few more pieces of concreate fall from the ceiling as the group move through the base towards the command centre.

After a few minutes Brigga calls out. “Alan, you better come over here.”

Alan rushes over to where Brigga is kneeling on the ground neck to a large crate of weapons. “It’s got your name on it” Brigga points at the crate where stamped across were the words ‘WOLFRICK CO’ in large red letters.

Alan gets down on his knees and stares at the words before looking up and seeing a faint red light blinking behind the crate. “What’s that.” Alan said getting up of his knees and walking behind the crate along with Brigga.

“Bomb!” Brigga yells. The group run out of the room as the bomb goes off knocking Alan over and his vision goes black in an instant.
